I hope you'll visit the store opening...I know you'll love it as I do!

We are getting a new front door today so this hello-goodbye doormat was the first thing in my cart!  I'll take more pictures of the mat when our new door is installed. But even with our old door, the mat brings a smile to your face when you walk up the steps.

I bought several cake stands because I find these to be such so versatile!  I gave my kitchen a spring uplift with the 10 inch galvanized cake stand which I filled with strawberries. I also added the 12 inch jade colored cake stand  and some pretty kitchen towels (blue rana kitchen towelartichoke flour sack towel, and red villa towel) to brighten my mostly neutral decor. Doesn't it look so springy and fresh?

The 8.75 inch jade colored cake stand, which is used to hold my kitchen soaps, helps to brighten the space as well.

I love the 12 inch wood and marble cake stand so much that I couldn't bear to put it on a shelf to wait for a cake.  It became part of my sideboard spring vignette instead along with a gorgeous peony bouquet!  Isn't the wood so rich?

My living room needed a little uplift too. It felt drab, tired, and old to me...the curtains, leftovers from our first house, didn't even touch the floor!. The dogs and kids trash the couch so buying something new doesn't make sense. But I knew Cost Plus World Market could help me jazz up the room!

I bought white cotton voile sheer curtains,  the metal edge laptop table (Jim's favorite!), blue geo chenille throw pillow and an embroidered pillow to add a little pizzazz. The blue sea glass vase filler I scattered on the table reminds me of the beach and adds some sparkle.

Now onto the giveaway! One lucky person will win a $500 World Market gift card. The giveaway will run from 5/16-5/22. Enter below...maybe the lucky winner will be you!

Favorite Garden Decor Items

I am obsessed with all things spring right now and that includes anything related to gardens, flowers, and outdoor decor.  I have collected some of my favorite garden decor items that I am swooning over or are on my wish list.

Filled with flowers this garden tool caddy would make a beautiful addition to a patio, deck, or garden.

In The Garden Cobble Stone Birdbath

Tiga Teak Garden Bench
All this bench needs is some comfy outdoor pillows

I love the soft, beachy colors!

If you follow me on Instagram you know that a pretty fox visits us almost every morning. Maybe he is looking for a friend.

These are all the rage and I envision this with clusters of impatients spilling out.

These are just about perfect. The copper...ah..perfection.

I love love love these!  I would fill it with all one color but different flowers.

Remember that teak bench up above?  That needs this.

While some people may put this on a patio, I would tuck it in between trees or among the flowers in a garden for quiet tea times.

I still have so many more to share!  Another day, I suppose!

How are you decorating your garden this year?

Teaching Jobs (getting personal)

I don't know if you noticed that I've been a little absent this summer. It wasn't planned. I hadn't decided to take a break from blogging but somehow between running kids to and from the pool and planning vacations, I didn't have much time to publish much.  So thanks for sticking with me and reading this!  I don't mean to be a fair weather friend!  But that isn't what today's post is about.

Amazon Studios: Annedroids

Did you know that Amazon Studios creates original programming for kids? They do and we were lucky enough to get to preview their third kids' original series, Annedroids! Both Molly, my 7 year old, and I loved the series!

Love At First Sight (in a thrift store)

Share It:

Do you believe in love at first sight?  If you were to ask me that question I would say no.  Love comes from experiences, memories, years. But if you asked me if I believed in love at first sight IN A THRIFT STORE I would unequivocally, without any hesitation say "Absolutely."

You know that feeling right?

This isn't a new blog but it's a new to me blog. I just discovered Jamie and her gorgeous blog, So Much Better With Age. I wish I had found her sooner!  Her blog is full of gorgeous photos, home ideas, baking, etc.

Her house is envy worthy for sure!  Check out her powder room, by the way.

Scrappy but so elegant.

I am so grateful to be able to post my 10 most popular posts of 2012!  I'm grateful because when I started this blog I wasn't sure where it would go or what I would do with it. And here I am, a full calendar year of blogging finished, and I am still happy doing it and sharing whatever I manage to create with you all.  Thank you for reading and for your supportive and inspiring comments!

The Pinterest response to these pillows blew me away!

Don't you love when fate steps into your decorating?  Maybe divine intervention?  I do!  My new dining room chairs (tufted parsons chairs) are my newest run in with fate!

Pumpkin Cobbler (Fall Dessert)

Share It:
I recently made one of my favorite fall desserts and I thought I'd share it with you all!  It's a pumpkin cobbler and it is easy and yummy!  Plus, we all need extra veggies in our diets, don't we?  I mean, I can go vegetarian if it's like this!

Fat Free Pumpkin Muffins

Share It:
*9/9/13 update:  Made these into baked pumpkin doughnuts by using a donut pan. Worked beautifully!  Covered them in an apple cider glaze made from a few TBS of cider stirred into powdered sugar. Fantastic!

It's a long story but Molly didn't get off to school with a happy start today.  I left her crying on a crowded school bus.  Anyway, I decided she needed to come home to a soothing and yummy after school snack so I made my favorite pumpkin muffins!  And luckily for me, they are fat free!

Our Wedding

Share It:
Our 8 year anniversary is today, August 7th.  I thought it might be fun to go down memory lane and post some pictures from our day!  Jim is the best and I dig him in a big way!  It was a beautiful day filled with friends and family!

Oh,  and remember, I'm a Jersey girl 100% so it was a techno, 90's freestyle dance music reception. We did get introduced in our reception to some Metallica song because, well, let's just say Jim and I wouldn't have been friends in high school.

I made my ring bearer pillow. Should have started a blog back then!

The reason I bought this dress

My sisters were my matrons of honor.

hubba hubba

Goin' down the aisle with my daddy.

Gettin' er done

And done!  Mission accomplished! And it kills me that my ring bearer there on the end is now 16, a life guard, and buff.

A little toast

I love this picture except that my pit cleavage is lapping over my dress. Thanks Mr. Camera Guy for helping me out with that.

Not sure what to say. Parking lot. Sign. Me. Jim.

The grounds of our reception hall (which is almost near The Brownstone for all you RHONJ fans!  But they were way out of our price range.)

Mint julep cups, hydrangeas, and little boxes filled with chocolate. Perfection!

I asked for a dark chocolate cake and I got beige. Eh, cake is cake so it went down alright. And I wanted a natural cake topper but this was just too, let's say, bulbous.

Bringing the beat back with my favorite guy who was an outrageously good dancer in his day despite the fact he was a metal head in his youth.

Double french bustle!

I got my girls, a disco ball, some beads, and a husband somewhere around there!  The best way to celebrate!

Then we scatted out to Hawaii for 2 weeks and had the time of our lives!

Hope you enjoyed my little wedding tour!

Cheers!
Jenny
