You CAN Make a Birch Bark Vase!

Share It:

Don't you just love all the birch bark accessories you see out and about?  You can find birch bark on most anything from candles to vases to journals covers and I love it all!  What about birch beer?  Not such a fan. But birch bark?  For sure! But what's a girl to do if she can't keep buying new accessories?  Make some did you say? HOLLA!

I'm Blogging All Wrong

Share It:

So let's chat. I have been mulling some things over in my head for about a week  now and I feel like I have to put down into words what is keeping me up lately.  It occurred to me this week that I've been blogging all wrong.  And this is a long, rambling post without pictures so be forewarned.

Beadboard Wallpaper and Bargains!

Share It:
I have totally gotten one over on The Man this week. No one is getting richer from me...nope! I hit some bargains that made me practically walk on air.  Let's start with my daffodils from Trader Joe's. $1.46 a bunch. A BUNCH people!  I should have grabbed more but you get what you get and you don't get upset. They are making me stupid happy right now.

Blog Feature Friday: Our Fifth House

Share It:

This week's Blog Feature Friday star is Carmel from Our Fifth House!

Sometimes home design/decor/diy people can be a bit intense, don't you think?  Everything is so serious!  So many rules to follow!  But Carmel is the opposite of serious and full of rules. Her decor style is elegant but playful and I am so drawn to that!  Her personality completely comes through in all her little details from the ever changing neck-decor on her horse head to the chalkboard in the foyer which sports different messages all the time. I love that!  I can imagine walking into her home and finding something new and different every time.

Not only does Carmel update her home with new and fresh projects, she follows a Paleo diet and her blog features Paleo recipes too.  She also shares her organization and photography tips!

So much inspiration to be had at Our Fifth House!

Spring Craft: Faux Cherry Blossom Branch

Share It:
What is your best quality?

Mine may be that I tend not to let life happen to me. I grab hold and make it happen. I won't go into details but my life mantra tends to be "move along" and when something isn't exactly how I envisioned, well, I work my tail off to change it. In a way, it is kind of bratty. I absolutely will not stand for not getting what I want! And right now, I want spring. I am stomping my foot and refusing to budge from my decision to have spring.

So when spring doesn't come and I have not one single forsythia branch to force like I did in my old house, what do I do?  I make my own darn spring flowering branch!   Say hello to a DIY cherry blossom branch.

Blog Feature Friday: All Things Beautiful

Share It:

I didn't post a blog last week for which I am sorry. This week I'm back and I am so excited to share my Blog Feature Friday star!

Meet Janis from All Things Beautiful!  I fell in love with Janis' style and anxiously await her new posts in my feed.  I find the word "elegant" running through my head when I look at her projects or decor. Her blog is pure eye candy for me!

Please pin from All Things Beautiful, please!

So without further adieu, here are some of Janis' projects that I think you'll love!

Love At First Sight (in a thrift store)

Share It:

Do you believe in love at first sight?  If you were to ask me that question I would say no.  Love comes from experiences, memories, years. But if you asked me if I believed in love at first sight IN A THRIFT STORE I would unequivocally, without any hesitation say "Absolutely."

You know that feeling right?

Chicken with Goat Cheese and Spinach (easy recipe)

Share It:

This is going to be a drive by post today. I wanted to share a yummy and easy goat cheese and spinach chicken recipe I made up one day when I was scrounging for dinner ideas. But I have have have to go to Target and buy Molly leggings or the whole school is going to see her knickers under her dresses.

And since I wasn't prepared to make this blog worthy, I didn't stage any shots, didn't dandy them up on pretty dishes, or with strategic lighting. I literally took out my camera and snapped a few pictures while it was cooking. So yay for keeping it real. And grainy.

2 years ago I rounded up 20 St. Patrick's Day ideas!  It included snacks, crafts, and party ideas. I thought I'd repost it since we're in March and getting ready for the leprechauns to come. I guess we can consider this an encore presentation!  Enjoy!
