These pots are adorable and incredibly easy to do for summer! She had some very creative ideas on her blog!

This looks like the perfect summer setting... I just want to sit back and relax! That bird pillow is so sweet, too! What a way to pamper your guests!

I bet we all know someone that would LOVE these adorable shoes! So cute and so easy!!

These two cows are having quite a fun time in her yard. Aren't they fun? You should stop by and see her silverware dragonflies....

Memorial Day weekend is right around the corner with the 4th of July on it's heels...
This would be perfect for both occasions!

Patriotic Scrap Bunting

Share It:

Memorial Day weekend is almost here. And while it is a solemn occasion, it is also a time to honor our country and its heroes.

Have you been getting into the spirit of the holiday with patriotic crafts?  I did! I created a quick and easy patriotic bunting but I used red, white, and blue in a more subtle way. This way, it doesn't scream "FLAG!" and I can use it throughout the summer!

I selected my fabrics and created a triangle template from cardboard. Then I traced each piece and cut each pennant with pinking shears.
I cut a long strip of fabric about an inch wide. I folded 1/2 " in on each side and pressed it down.

Then I folded it longways in the middle and pressed it again.

I pinned each triangle inside the fold of the fabric strip and then ran it straight through my sewing machine. It was that easy!

I love that it is red, white, and blue...festive!

I purchased these fabrics for this bunting project but wouldn't this be a great way to get rid of some scrap fabric?

I hope you'll visit the store opening...I know you'll love it as I do!

We are getting a new front door today so this hello-goodbye doormat was the first thing in my cart!  I'll take more pictures of the mat when our new door is installed. But even with our old door, the mat brings a smile to your face when you walk up the steps.

I bought several cake stands because I find these to be such so versatile!  I gave my kitchen a spring uplift with the 10 inch galvanized cake stand which I filled with strawberries. I also added the 12 inch jade colored cake stand  and some pretty kitchen towels (blue rana kitchen towelartichoke flour sack towel, and red villa towel) to brighten my mostly neutral decor. Doesn't it look so springy and fresh?

The 8.75 inch jade colored cake stand, which is used to hold my kitchen soaps, helps to brighten the space as well.

I love the 12 inch wood and marble cake stand so much that I couldn't bear to put it on a shelf to wait for a cake.  It became part of my sideboard spring vignette instead along with a gorgeous peony bouquet!  Isn't the wood so rich?

My living room needed a little uplift too. It felt drab, tired, and old to me...the curtains, leftovers from our first house, didn't even touch the floor!. The dogs and kids trash the couch so buying something new doesn't make sense. But I knew Cost Plus World Market could help me jazz up the room!

I bought white cotton voile sheer curtains,  the metal edge laptop table (Jim's favorite!), blue geo chenille throw pillow and an embroidered pillow to add a little pizzazz. The blue sea glass vase filler I scattered on the table reminds me of the beach and adds some sparkle.

Now onto the giveaway! One lucky person will win a $500 World Market gift card. The giveaway will run from 5/16-5/22. Enter below...maybe the lucky winner will be you!

Hi Everyone! What a week!!! Life seems to have gotten in the way of pretty much everything else this week. My mother is visiting for a month and landed up in the hospital. She's fine! But it's really changed the way we are living and working right now. I have unfinished projects everywhere inside and out. But life will return to normal as she heals and moves into a long term care facility nearby. So I really don't have much to share with you this week. rhubarb upside down coffee cake
Before she went in the hospital, we enjoyed this rhubarb upside down cake one afternoon in the garden. I made it with Splenda as she is diabetic. But I wrote out the recipe for you with regular sugar.

There were so many lovely tablescapes for Mothers Day and Cinco de Mayo that it was so hard to choose just one. But I fell in love with the little flower-filled moss covered baskets in this one by

I love a good cleaning tip. And an accidental one like these dryer sheet screen cleaners is even better! Jodi from Minnie's Milestones shows us how to get sparkling clean window screens in one easy step.

As you probably know by now, I love a good DIY. And this herringbone trellis by Bethany from Simply Said Seven took me back to one of my first DIY projects - a rose trellis. Believe me when I tell you that Bethany's is 100 times better than the one we made!

The BBQ is heating up at our house lately. We love to make all sorts of things on the grill, not just hamburgers & hot dogs. So when I saw this BBQ Chicken Naan Bread Pizza Julie made, I knew it would become a family favourite.

There will be no gardening this weekend as the forecast calls for rain and cold temperatures. So I was browsing for a quick craft to do this afternoon and came across these easy map table mats from Pillar Box Blue.
