Amazon Studios: Annedroids

Did you know that Amazon Studios creates original programming for kids? They do and we were lucky enough to get to preview their third kids' original series, Annedroids! Both Molly, my 7 year old, and I loved the series!

Annedroids is an action-adventure series geared toward children ages 4-7 (although I actually think kids all the way up to 12 or even older would enjoy it). The series moves around Anne, who uses found objects in a junk yard to create amazing androids and other inventions. Her friends, Shania and Nick, assist her with her inventions and together the three find themselves having adventures and making scientific discoveries.

The series, which went live on Prime Instant Video on July 25th, was created by JJ Johnson and stars Addison Holley as ”Anne” and Adrianna Di Liello as her friend “Shania”. Both actresses create likable and believable characters and Molly was instantly wowed by Anne and her scientific knowledge. I appreciate the characterization of two strong and independent girls who aren't afraid to take risks and think outside the box. It is refreshing to watch a show that features young girls interested in science, engineering, and computers. And the writing is sweet, funny, and respectful! All these ingredients work to create a compelling show as evidenced by the fact that Molly has already watched the entire season's episodes twice! In her own words, "I LOVE it, Mom! I LOVE it! I can't wait until Season 2!"

Annedroids, like all of Amazon’s children’s programs, is designed to develop creative thinking in children and has been tested to ensure they achieve this goal. Amazon’s goal is to inspire lifelong learners and provide children with the skills that will help them find personal and professional satisfaction in their future.

Molly and I enjoyed the series so much that we are looking into some of the other children's shows from Amazon. Earlier this summer, Amazon Studios released two additional children’s series: a stop-motion animated series encouraging creative scientific discovery called Tumble Leaf and an interactive art adventure for preschoolers called Creative Galaxy. I know Ellie will love Creative Galaxy since she enjoys art so much.

I would encourage you to watch Annedroids along with your son and daughter! I think you'll agree that it is a quality learning show that doesn't sacrifice fun and folly!

  1. My son would probably really love this show. We have Prime, and we will be sure to check it out.

  2. My little guy absolutely LOVES Tumble Leaf and Creative Galaxy. He loves to recreate the adventures that Fig goes on with Maple. And any artwork he does now is his "masterpiece". I really appreciate Amazon coming up with such fresh ideas for the little crowd that doesn't involve slapstick humor or overly cartoony characters. We will have to check out Annedroids next.
