Teacher Gifts

Tis the season for....teacher gifts. Sigh. What do we do? Should we collect $ and give a gift card?  Should we give her a candle? A mug? A bottle of Motrin and a bottle of wine? This year, give something special and unique!

Ellie's preschool hosts a large silent auction during the holiday season each year. Every class is asked to provide a gift to be auctioned off and the children should be involved in the creation of this gift. Last year we submitted this popcorn bowl using the kids' fingerprints. This year we went a different route and steered clear of the hand print/thumb print decorations.

Instead we used all the students to create a piece of art that anyone would be proud to hang on their wall! It was a hit!

I added the quote using Picmonkey and then had it printed in a large size. It was one of the highest bid items and we are so proud of how it turned out.

My friend also found a beautiful poem and I created a mock up using that as well. Ultimately we went with the shorter quote but I think this poem with the students' hands arranged around it would make a gorgeous teacher gift that he/she can hang in the classroom.

"a circle of friendship"

We've joined together as classmates
as the new year begins...
A year full of learning
while we become friends.
We'll share and be kind
as we work and play.
And our friendship will grow
with each passing day.

While I think it is a lovely Christmas gift for a favorite teacher, it would be especially meaningful at the end of the school year when we say goodbye!

What are you doing for your teachers this holiday season?
