I adore the beach. One of my favorite times of the year is when we take our annual trip to the beaches of North Carolina with my sister and her family. Molly and Ellie spend the week running around with their cousins and I find myself sitting by the ocean reading a cheesy romance. Perfection.

Burlap Fall Wreath

Share It:
Fall is here!!  YES! Hello pumpkin spice everything!  Hello Halloween candy!  Hello mums! Hello new wreath!

I got crafty a few weeks ago and decided to make a new fall wreath. I used up some burlap I had laying around and then just tucked in some clusters of fall foliage, flowers, and glittery acorns, securing everything with the good ole glue gun!

Valentine's Day Wreath And An Announcement!

Share It:
Valentine's Day is this Friday!  Woo Hoo!  I'm happy because it means we are halfway through February which means we will be closer to spring. Which means, I am still showcasing ways to bust your stash to make way for spring fabric!

I showed you a few projects I created using some of my fabric stash such as my hanging fabric hearts, and scrap heart garland. Today, I'm excited to show you another way to use those little puffy hearts!

Back to School Mantel (September Decor)

September is here which means one thing to us:  BACK TO SCHOOL!  Shout it with me, sister!  I decided to celebrate the event so I decorated our mantel in a school motif!

Patriotic Wreath

I love all the patriotic decorations floating around lately, don't you?  I got into the 4th of July action by making a patriotic wreath using red, white, blue, and silver. I love my 4th of July wreath!

Christmas/Winter Wreath

Share It:
I wanted to have a wreath that would be appropriate for Christmas but would also take me through most of winter, including Valentine's Day. I think I did it!  What do you think?

Fall Mantel (Autumn Decor)

Share It:
I dolled up our mantel with my newest fall wreath, some white pumpkins, a few candles, and a candy corn garland!  Plus I switched out the candles in my lanterns to be orange and I plan to nest the candles in acorns when I've picked up enough from our driveway. I'm so happy to have fall in full blast around here!

Fall Book Page Wreath, Kitchen Rug, Crockpot Kielbasa

Share It:
This post is going to be a little all over the place, just like its author. HA!  Can you handle a fall inspired book page wreath?  And a new rug for the kitchen and a decorating question?  How about a very unstaged picture of my dinner (crock pot kielbasa and potatoes)?  What do they all have in common?  um. nothing.

Lemon Wreath & Spring Decor

Share It:
I love decorating with lemons so I decided to make a lemon wreath using dried lemons! Fancy and fresh!

I'll post a tutorial later on when I have a bit more time to type.

Here are a few more springy pictures I've taken lately!

Daffies I planted when we first moved in
have bloomed!

Some pretty ground cover we have over our beds.
Have no idea what it is but it blankets our
beds in pretty blue/purple flowers.

Poor Pixie isn't always sure what to make of our Eleanor.

Hangin' out in the sunshine.

This was a B.B. creation. You know, Before Blog.
You want my doorknocker. Admit it. You want it.

It didn't feel like home until
Jim hung a flag!

My parents came in late last night from North Carolina for the Easter holiday!  I'm so happy to see them and show them our new home.  Molly is beyond excited and Ellie is always slow to warm up so she's flashing them lots of scowls.

I'll be back later with features!  Have a great day everyone!!!

Cheers!

Refinished Table, Party Hats, Super Simple Wreath

Share It:
I've been busy!  Here is what I've been working on!

My sister and her husband are super generous and luckily for me she changes her mind about furniture quite often. I score some really great stuff!  Here is a little table she gave me that she was "done" with.

,Great legs, but I'm not into blondes.

It made Ellie very sad. It wasn't the lion mane, I swear. It was the naked table.
I sanded it, slapped on some gray-blue paint (my living room color plus some gray craft paint mixed in) and then I used a gold paint pen to highlight some of the details. Wa-la!

I also changed my wreath to something super simple but I really like it. It feels Novemberish.

And finally, I made some sweet party hats for Molly's fairy party. She wanted them to have veils like princess hats so that's what we did!  I loved sewing the crepe paper ruffle. Wait until you see the favor boxes!!  They are my favorite part. But I'm just being a tease.  You have to wait for those. But here are the hats. Some are facing backward so you can see the veils. Awwwwww.

The back. We glued on sparkly flower and butterfly cut outs to hide the glue blob.
I got those at Target for $.99!  Not bad!

So that's been my life in the past 24 hours in a nutshell.

Cheers!

Halloween Glam Wreath Tutorial

Share It:
This is my newest wreath creation. It's my Halloween Glam Wreath and it was pretty easy to do!  You can see more pictures here.

Step 1:  Gather your supplies. You will need 1 wreath form, about a half a yard ( maybe less) of white linen fabric cut into strips (I varied my lengths and widths), several long, wider strips of any white  fabric, glue gun, black/white/gray embellishments such as flowers, beads, etc., black thread, and 1 black glitter foam sheet.

Step 2:  Using your thicker, longer strips, start wrapping your wreath completely.  Secure every so often with hot glue.

Step 3:
Begin tying your smaller strips randomly around the wreath to create the look of mummy wrappings. I secured each tie with a small bead of hot glue so they would stay put. I varied where I tied the knot on the wreath, some are tied high and some are low.

Continue tying until you achieve the look you like. I ended up with strips every inch or so all the way around the wreath.

Step 4:  Glue on your embellishments. Lay them out first on the wreath before you glue to find the placement you like best.

Step 5 & 6:
Find a bat silhouette. I found one I liked on Google Images. Print, cut out, and trace on the reverse side of the glitter foam sheet. Cut out. My glitter foam had a adhesive back.  So I peeled it off after cutting it and I stuck it onto a length of thread. I then hot glued the bat to the thread to ensure it doesn't fall off.  Next I tied the thread to the wreath in between the strips so the tied part was hidden by the fabric. Then I put a bead of hot glue on the back to secure it to the wreath. And done!

If you make one too I'd love to see it!  Are you working on any Halloween projects?

Cheers!

Halloween Glam Wreath

Share It:
I love fall. Adore it, actually.  While we dated, Jim and I would spend our falls hiking and watching the foliage change color. I've been a little bummed that all of our fall decor is in  a POD in our driveway. It's like my mercury glass pumpkins and other lovelies are being held hostage by the POD people who don't want me to have a festive home.  I know I just have to be patient. So in the meantime I created a wreath for Halloween but I didn't want it be too literal. I wanted it to be a bit glam and a bit creepy. I settled on black and white because I love black and white. I used some leftover linen to make what I hoped would look like mummy wrappings and, surprise surprise, I hot glued an assortment of fabric flowers that I embellished with lots of sparkles and pearls. Guess that's the glam part.  It will look fierce when my door is painted black!  Oh and it was really hard to take pictures. If the white part wasn't too bright then the black flowers were too dark and vice versa. My camera isn't fancy so I did the best I could.

I'm pretty happy with it!  I'm really loving looking at everyone's fall and Halloween projects, too. It's such a fun time of year!

Cheers!
Jenny
