New House!

Reminder to enter my flower giveaway!

How are you all doing??  I just got a chance to read my blog roll and catch up. Whew!  It's been a busy 24 hours. We closed on our new, hopefully forever home. We are beyond excited but we have A LOT of work to do. It's not exactly a fixer upper but it certainly isn't move in ready. We have to paint almost every wall and we have a huge punch list including things like "Change out every light switch" and "ALL new light fixtures."  Egads!  On the bright side we have tons of space now for our girls to stretch and grow, a large and shady yard, and enough DIY projects to ensure me a long and healthy blogging life. HA HA HA!

So here is what we bought! I took these today when I was throwing some paint samples up on the walls. Consider these Before pictures.  Way Before.

Ok, here is the front again.

We will paint the door, new hardware, clean up and remove some of the landscaping, trim trees, possibly add window boxes, and add decorative elements to the front porch thing

When you walk in this is your view:

The stairs are fine. Notice the spray paint ready and waiting?  It's for the mailbox. Yes, even the mailbox needs work.

A view of the foyer from the living room. Someday we'll replace that tile. It goes throughout the foyer into the kitchen. It's ugly but in super condition so it's not our first priority.

Family room:

We will be painting all the paneling a linen white color and possibly the fireplace as well. I want it white but I'm getting some resistance from other people. Not sure what to do.  The sliders lead to the deck and the door on the left leads to the laundry room/garage entrance.

Wow that's a terrible picture. But it has nice windows and I wanted you to get the gist of that.

Laundry Room:

The curtains have roosters on them. Ok, you can have them I guess.

Living Room/Dining Room:

My floors are the prettiest brown. They are prettier than the picture shows. The curtains however are not.

This chandi is outta there

I may have saved the best for last. Hold on and get your Frankie Says Relax t-shirt out because the 80's never hurt so good!

Kitchen:

We plan on changing nothing. It's perfect!  HA HA HA! The only thing we aren't going to change someday are the windows. You diggin' the wall paper?  Yeah, me too. Oh and the tiles above the stove have little dutch children painted on them. Not cute ones either. Creepy ones. Do I sense another giveway??  kidding.

Here are the awesome deck chairs my family gave us as a house warming present. They rock because they recline.

We will restain the deck in the spring. I can't wait for the mums to bloom!
So that's the first level. We have a lot to take care of but we're up for the challenge!  We took our starter house from worst to first on the block and we'll do it with this one too. We are so grateful for being able to live in a great neighborhood near my sister and we feel like we got a good bargain in addition.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Cheers!
Jenny
